Multicoloured Round Basket with Lid Straw and Wax African Fabric
A large handwoven basket with a handle made with African wax fabric and dried straw with a matching lid. African wax fabric and dried straw combine to create a colourful work of art designed to add happiness.
For centuries, African wax fabric developed from its Indonesian batik origin. Made from 100% cotton, African wax fabric prints use a wax-resist method that offers the opportunity for vibrant colours and patterns. Dried straw is harvested locally in Africa and then woven with the wax fabric creating an alluring design and effect. This basket is from a French company which opened weaving schools for young girls in 14 villages across Senegal, employing more than 2,000 women. Each basket is handmade, making it a truly unique, thoughtful, and functional piece to add to your home.
