Handcrafted in Burkina Faso this stunning Lamp with Calabash Shell for the lampshade & Recycled Scrap Metal for the lampstand. Inspired by the Bauhaus Desk Lamp.
Calabash is a fruit grown throughout Africa, Asia, and Central and South America. Widely known for its healing powers, it is commonly referred to as 'The Miracle Fruit. It contains vitamin B1, vitamin C, calcium, iron, sodium and potassium.
In Africa, it is called the Tupperware tree because of its multi various uses. When dried, the fruit’s shell can be used to make various kinds of utensils, ornaments and musical instruments. The dried shells can be used to create bowls for drinking and eating or for carrying water.
Height approx. 42cm
Each piece is handmade and varies from the photo in the size of the Calabash & style of the lampstand.
