Recycled Plastic Paper Basket

Handmade basket made with recycled plastic and straw. Recycled plastic is made of remelted recycled plastic with added pigment to give its elegant black and grey colours. Dried straw is harvested locally in Africa, dried, and then woven. Great for storage or planter for indoor plants. These baskets were from a French company that has opened weaving schools for young girls in 14 villages across Senegal, employing more than 2,000 women. These high-quality baskets are available in a range of colours including black, grey, white, and a vibrant multicoloured basket.

The marvellous techniques have been perfected over the course of many generations and are now being handed on to daughters, grandchildren, and communities. Even something as simple as a hand-woven basket may serve as the community's mainstay and the pillar around which the village is built. Everything, from the long grass blades of millet to the recyclable plastic that has been dyed, is sourced from within the local community. These baskets are so versatile that you can use them for almost anything. Towels, tiny toys, cosmetic items, TV remotes, and even potential usage as a paper bin in a home office are some of the things that can be stored in a basket.
